Bangladesh Bank instructed the Corporate Socially Responsible banks & financial organizations to distribute relief materials. To the residents who were in the recent montane landslide calamity due to heavy rainfall, in the Bandarban areas. Instructions were mailed from the Sustainable Finance Department to the Directors of such banks & organizations.
Since 12 June midnight, countless people of 3 montane districts Bandarban, Khagrachhari & Rangamati Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar areas, went out of grid connection. The devastating natural calamity temporarily disconnected all sorts of transportation & communications with these areas. Over 150 died right during the landslide. Also, countless have become homeless. They have no food, drinking water and in urgent need for aid & medication. BB requested the CSR banks and financial organizations to provide relief to these suffering people.
