Over 13 lacs students are participating in School Banking. Currently, there are 1048.24 Crores taka in their bank accounts, reports Bangladesh Bank.
BB believes that, their School Banking Initiative 2010 was a success in encouraging students to participate in banking & making them accounting savvy. Total of 13, 40,160 accounts have been opened since 2010. Among them, 7, 52, 992 are boys & 5, 45,779 are girls. Ranging from 11-17 years old.
Most of them have no source of income. They had been solely saving moneys from their pocket-moneys & other occasional gift bonuses.
