On Monday the Congress named Rahul Gandhi its new president.Senior party leader Mullappally Ramachandran said at a press conference in New Delhi, “I hereby declare Shri Rahul Gandhi elected as the president of the Indian National Congress.”Also All India Congress Commitee’s returning officer for the election, Ramachandran said while making the announcement that all 89 nominations proposals were found to be valid, and since he was the only candidate in the wear through, Rahul had been inflated to the top post.On December 16 the 47-year-old leader will take over the restrain of the party from his mother and current president, Sonia Gandhi. For 19 years Sonia has held the position.
