No such property exists in Saudi Arabia, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir. “These are all baseless”, he added on Monday, reports BDnews24.A Saudi anti-graft investigation has revealed that there are assets in the kingdom owned by the former prime minister and her family, according to reports made by some Bangladeshi media outlets. They cited ‘Global Intelligence Network’ and Canadian TV channel ‘The National’ but no such news providers have been found on the internet.Although a Canadian state media program titled ‘The National’ was found, they had no report regarding Khaleda Zia, while ‘Global Intelligence Network’, or GIN, is a business intelligence of Symantec and not a media outlet. On Sunday, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader claimed that BNP found itself in hot water after Khaleda and her son Tareq Rahman’s names came up on a Saudi crackdown which saw several Saudi princes and former misters arrested. Regarding this statement, Mirza Fakrul said ‘We have already asked the Government to come up with proof”. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also commented on this news in a media briefing on Thursday, saying that she was unhappy regarding the media’s silence on the matter. She also added whether there was any financial gain journalists had from not reporting it.
