Sayeed Muhammad: Bangladesh continue to witness more deaths as the number of suspected drug smugglers killed in the ongoing anti-narcotics raids has climbed to at least 106, since May 4.
In yesterday’s overnight drives at least 12 more people were killed, reports The Daily Star.In Dhaka, Sumon Miah alias Khuku Sumon, an accused in five cases, was killed in Dakkhin Khan. One shooter gun, 2 bullets, 1000 yaba pills were recovered from the spot.
In Comilla, Liton alias Kana Liton, 43, and Baten, 34, were killed in Gunjar area of Muradnagar. A pipe-gun and 400 bottles of phensidyl were seized from the spot. Liton stood accused in seven cases and Baten in eight.
In Kushtia, Mukaddes Ali, 42, and Fazlur Rahman alias Title, 48, both facing eight cases each, were killed in Shehala field area of Daulatpur upazila around.
In Mymensingh, Mizan, 45, an accused in eight cases, was killed in Bhaluka upazila. Police recovered 100gm heroin, three bullet shells and a machete from the spot.
In Satkhira, Anisur Rahman, 40, an accused in 10 cases, was killed in Pilapul field under Deyara union, Koloroa upazila. Police recovered a one-shooter gun, two bullets and 70 yaba tablets from his possession.
In Thakurgaon, Harun, 45, was killed in Shitolpur area of Haripur upazila.
In Jessore, two suspected drug traders were killed in a “gunfight between two groups of drug traders” in Chanchra Raipara area.
After reaching the scene, police seized two pistols, five bullet shells and two packets of yaba tablet.
In Barguna, Firoz Mridha, 45, an accused in nine cases, was killed in Kumrakhali village in Kajirabad union, Betagi municipality.
A revolver, a shooter gun, four bullets and 240 yaba tablets were recovered from the spot.
In Brahmanbaria, Jony Mia, 30, an accused in eight cases, was killed in “gunfight between two groups of drug traders” in Khalajora area of Akhaura municipality.
Later on, police recovered the body, a pipe gun, a cartridge and sharp weapons from the spot.
