Myanmar president pardons 58 Rohingyas detained while returning

Sejuti Mourin: Myanmar President Win Myint has pardoned 58 Rohingyas refugees arrested during their failed attempt to reenter Myanmar from Bangladesh.
Although they were released from Myanmar jail, the Myanmar government claimed that the first batch returnees from the camps in Cox’s Bazar arrived in Reception Centres in Myanmar.
The Myanmar Ministry of the Office of the State Counselor, in a press statement on Sunday headlined ‘The first returnees from the Camps in Cox’s Bazar arrived in Reception Centres ’, claimed that the returnees were arrested under the “existing laws” and some were given prison sentences.
They were reportedly released from prison and sent to the Nga Khu Ya Reception Camp on May 26.
After necessary verification, they will be transferred to the Transit Camp in Hla Phoe Khaung, said the Myanmar government.
However, no comment was available from Bangladesh side yet in this regard, reports UNB.
