Writ filed seeking ban on hoisting of foreign flags

    Abrar Hussain: A writ has been filed with the High Court, seeking its directive to ban unauthorized hoisting of foreign flags across the country during the upcoming Football World Cup 2018.
    Freedom fighter Mohammad Nurul Amin filed the writ with the bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafor Ahmed on Sunday.
    The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to start on June 14 in Russia, reports UNB.
    According to the writ petition, football fans in Bangladesh hoist flags of their favorite countries during the World Cup, especially that of Argentina and Brazil.
    According to rules of People’s Republic of Bangladesh, 1972, there are restrictions on the use of foreign flags. It requires approval for hoisting foreign flags without having foreign diplomatic missions in Bangladesh.
