The High Court (HC) on Monday has issued a rule upon the government to explain why the stage, where Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his historic March 7 speech won’t be reconstructed.The High court in the same rule also questioned why a statue of the father of the nation will not be constructed at the site in Dhaka’s Suhrawardi Udyan and March 7 be declared as a national day. The government has been asked by the court to submit the reports of the initiatives it had taken after receiving the ruling on December 12.The HC bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Haque and Justice Mohammad Ullah delivered the ruling and order. Both the Cabinet Secretary and the Finance Secretary have been instructed to follow this directive. On Monday morning, pro-Awami League legal practitioner Dr. Bashir Ahmed filed a writ petition for the public interest to the relevant branch of the Supreme Court.
