Telling the nation that he will preside over the ruling party congress in December, Zimbabwe’s 37 year long President Robert Mugabe refused to resign and vowed to carry on as head of state despite being officially stripped of leadership by his own party, Zanu-PF. However, Zanu-PF officials alleged that Mugabe would face impeachment proceedings in parliament today if the deadline passes.As Mugabe failed to announce his resignation, Zimbabwe’s ongoing crisis has descended into outright chaos. Observers remarked that Mugabe’s hope to compel the military to overthrow him by force, would theoretically trigger an intervention by regional powers. Headed by South Africa, the South African Development Community (SADC) is to meet in Angola today to discuss the situation. Chairman of the influential war veterans’ association in Zimbabwe; Chris Mutsvangwa informed that frustrated Zimbabweans would take to the streets of Harare on Wednesday.
