Khaleda to appear before the court today

    BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is due to appear before the court today in two corruption cases. She would arrive at 11am at the makeshift special court in the capital’s Bakshibazar, her lawyer Sanaullah Miyan confirmed yesterday. Dhaka special court-5 is trying Zia orphanage trust and Zia Charitable trust cases in both of which Khaleda is accused of corruption. Judge Akterujjaman of the court fixed today for recording her remaining self-defense statement after last two hearings in the first case and questioning of the witnesses in the second one. On October 12, the court issued an arrest warrant during her stay in London. She secured bail surrendering before the court on October 19 upon returning home after three months in abroad. She gave her self defense statement in two consecutive hearings in Zia Orphanage trust case, one on that day and the next on October 26.
