Cabinet Might Discuss About ‘The Pesticide Ordinance 2017’ in Today’s Meeting

    Ministry of Agriculture has already sent the final the report on the ‘The Pesticide Ordinance 2017’, to cabinet for approval. All the previous revisions were included as well. Ministry of Agriculture believes that, approval of this ordinance may greatly reduce the rate of selling of pesticide. Ultimately, preventing all pesticide overuse. The report clarifies all aspect of pesticide regulating laws. Violation of any law will be considered as punishable acts. Such as, overselling or selling adulterated pesticide, pesticide certification fraud and interrupting pesticide inspectors etc. Accused will be fined minimum of 1 lac taka, and 2 lacs taka for next consecutive violations. The law will also allow the inheriting of pesticide-selling certification, with few conditions. Pesticide containers will be required to have labels on them indicating ‘Poison’, and must mention the remedy of it, in case of contamination.
