Community Polices have been rejuvenated again in Dhaka City. General people are greatly welcoming the initiation. Community police are also pitching in the few works with the regular police. Though there had been few debatable events. Most are glad for them.
Community Police Unit launched in 2007 with the slogan ‘Public are Police, Police are Public’. Unfortunately their work reach near halt in 2009. The initiative aims to reduce local crimes. Appointing 15-20 local general public with some police responsibilities & badges.
The community police idea was inspired from the Founder of London Metropolitan Police, Robert Peel.
