Price of ginger & onion rapidly increased within past few weeks, in Dhaka. ginger by 50-60 takas and onion by 15-20 takas!
Average market price observation showed, ginger is being sold at 135 taka & onion at 40 taka. Meanwhile, Indian onion are sold at 38 taka. Customers are claiming, there must be ill-syndicate working behind. They also blame the authorities for not having a government monitoring system.
On the other hand, business-owners are saying that, this is due to recent heavy rains & flooding. Also, another primary reason for the price hike is the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
