Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, announced yesterday that the government would soon implement the ninth wage board for journalists.
After holding a meeting of the cabinet committee for wage board implementation with the leaders of the Newspaper Owners Association at conference room of information ministry, Quader told reporters that government had already almost finalized the 9th wage board award for the journalists.
“We have to hold more meetings with the journalist leaders before the announcement and we hope cooperation of all stockholders of the wage board.”
Information minister Hasan Mahmud said that government is considering to induct the journalists the private television channels under the proposed 9th wage board.
The new seven-member cabinet committee was formed in the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government on January 21, headed by Obaidul Quader.
According to the terms of reference, the committee will submit its report by January 28, 2019.
