Bid on to split pro-Liberation War force

Fazle Hossain Badsha speaks to DOT :
Fazle Hossain Badsha, the general secretary of Workers Party of Bangladesh, said BNP is still in a deep fascination with Jamaat, aiming at coming to power. Until Jamaat’s politics will be banned, logic of the pro-Liberation War alliance Moha Jote existing will mean the same.
The lest-leaning party leader was speaking at a private TV channel talk show of late. “It has been possible to keep BNP and Jamaat under pressure just because of forming the alliance consisting of small parties, led by Awami League,” he said. The small parties also contributed to the country in the last decade, he said, adding that Awami League alone cannot take credit of the development.
“Rather the entire development is done by the Moha Jote,” he maintained. As a party, Awami League has had a massive expansion at the grassroots level and benefitted more, Badsha said.
“On the other hand, we came out less beneficial as being small parties. But in troubling Jamaat, we all have the same credit and commitment,” he said.
The leader, however, said that an effort is on to split the pro-Liberation War alliance floated in 2004, the BNP-Jamaat government was in power.
The alliance was formed with the purpose of replacing the BNP-Jamaat clique.
“Awami League has not officially invited any of the 14 parties of the alliance to be the opposition as yet. Jatiya Party willingly expressed its interest to this end,” Badsha said.
Gossips available in the market are mainly the statements of newspapers and magazines, some of which was to see a split in the alliance, he said. Translated by Sayeed Muhammad.
