Tahmeed Taha: Though the pass rate of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams is 77.77 percent and the lowest in nine years, it is nothing to worry about, says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At an event at the Ganabhaban yesterday, she said, “We hope it will rise in the future,” after she received a summary of the results, reports bdnews24. After receiving the summary from Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and the chairpersons of the ten education boards, the prime minister congratulated the examinees who had successfully passed their exams. She advised those who had failed not to despair, but to pay greater attention to their studies. PM said, “As there were more candidates this year it is not too concerning that the pass rate has dropped. After all, a 77.77 percent pass rate is not particularly low.” At the event, she spoke to administrative officials, students, teachers and various members of the public from Bandarban via video conference. Hasina urged everyone to contribute in creating an environment in which a proper education can be given to students, and she encouraged students to pursue their education diligently.
