Girls ahead in pass rate,boys in GPA-5

    Tahmeed Taha: In this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations the female students achieved better results than the male students, reports The Daily Star. Under eight general education boards, the pass rate of female students is 80.35 percent while the rate of male students is 78.40 percent. With 1.95% points more than males, females are ahead, the statistic shows. However, in terms of GPA-5 under the 10 education boards, the boys outnumbered girls.While a total of 54,928 female students achieved the GPA-5 results, a total of 55,701 male students achieved GPA-5 in this year’s SSC and equivalent  exams. Under the eight general boards7, 92,097 male students and 8, 32,326 female students took part in the SSC examinations. About 77.77 percent students passed the SSC and equivalent tests this year, which is 2.58 percent lower compared to previous year.
