The Associated Press recently ran an interview on several different Rohingya women from different villages and now living in different camps and surprisingly, their stories were hauntingly similar.Here are the magnet parts of the interview, the women mentioned here will remain anonymous and be mentioned by their first initials only. Tale of a 13 year old: 13 years old R, just days ago she was soft and warm. But now, she already has learned to fear the military men and last year, they stabbed her father to death. In late august, 10 soldiers barged into R’s house and snatched her two little brothers and tied against the tree to beat them.As R tried to run for her life, on of them grabbed her, tethered her arms to two trees and stripped her clothes. Screaming for her life, they spit on her and one after another, sequentially began to rape her. Before she lost her consciousness, she remembers all 10 of them forcing themselves on her. Later, when carried toward Bangladesh by her elder brother, she was given emergency contraceptives.She was raped twice: In June, F and her husband were asleep when seven soldiers barged into their bedroom. They tied her husband with rope and stripped off her clothes snitching her jewelries first. As the first soldier began to rape her, her husband wriggled the gag from his mouth and screamed. He was shot and then killed as another soldier slit his throat. After finishing themselves on her, they set her body on fire. She would’ve been dead if her neighbours hadn’t have rescued her. Two months later, she realized her pregnancy.In September, while she was taking shelter at her neighbour’s, 5 soldiers barged in breaking down the door.
A little boy used to live there had his throat slashed, also they killed his father. Then F and her neighbour friend’s clothes were stripped off and got raped again.After they left, the tortured women lay on the floor for days before fleeing for Bangladesh.
