Tarique Rahman & ETV former chairman framed in sedition charges

    BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and former chairman of Ekushey TV Abdus Salam and its two other senior journalists were framed “sedition charges: by a Dhaka Court on Monday for broadcasting a “fabricated and provocative” speech. The hearing of the witnesses is scheduled to be held on 15 January. Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah read out the charges on Monday while former Ekushey TV chairman Abdus Salam was present and now on bail. The two other accused     are Mahathir Farooki Khan (former chief reporter of ETV) and reporter Kanak Sarwar.Arrest warrants were issued on October 23 against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and two other former journalists after accepting the charge sheet.Earlier on January 8 of 2015, the case was filed with Tejgaon Police Station and detectives pressed charges against these four people on September 6, 2016. Abdus Salam pleaded innocence and now on bail. Theand two former journalists therefore after securing their bails went hiding, reports Daily Star.Addressing and broadcasting a “false, fabricated, and provocative” speech against the law enforcers of the country which led to anarchy.
