Morgues close down as violent Mexico City overcrowds with dead bodies

    Morgues are beginning to shut down in Mexico’s southern state Guerrero, since they can’t handle hundreds of dead bodies. Guerrero is a city which is filled with crimes. There have been 1919 homicidies this year and it has been increasing everyday. Earlier this month, there were threats against teachers which forced at least 100 schools to shut down in the city of Chilapa. Violence caused by cartels in Guerrero has emptied villages, closed schools and forced bus companies off the road.
    Morgues are getting overcrowded and workers have refused to handle hundreds of decomposing bodies’ everyday. According to local news reports, 600 bodies are being kept inside a morgue in Chilpancingo whereas it has the capacity to hold only 200 corpses. Reports show that everyday at least 10 bodies are arriving at morgues in the state.Father Mario, a catholic priest of Guerrero said that the city has been destroyed by drug cartels and the authorities are not doing anything to fix it. Bus services have also been closed down due to the murders of at least 10 drivers.
