Four people died after a brick-laden truck fell into a water-filled ditch in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, yesterday morning, reports The Daily Star.
Divers from Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered the bodies of the deceased, identified as Shaheen, 32, Mujahid, 20, Arif, 18, and Abdul Kader, 45.
All the four were travelling on the truck, according to deputy assistant director of Dhaka Fire Zone-10 Manik-Uz-Zaman.
Inspector (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station Javed Masud added that Mujahid was driving the truck when the accident took place around 6:00am. The brick-laden truck lost control as it reached a narrow earthen road in Moragang area and fell into the 40-foot deep ditch beside the road.
Two units of Uttara Fire Service and Civil Defense along with a team of divers conducted the rescue operation and recovered the truck around 11:30 am.
