DOT Desk: At least 67 people were arrested with drugs in six districts- Dinajpur, Cumilla, Joypurhat, Noakhali, Rajshahi and Brahmanbaria, in two days, reports The Daily Observer.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police, in separate drives, arrested 32 drug traders and takers from the district in two days.
BGB members arrested two drug peddlers with 270 bottles of phensedyl from an onion-laden truck at Hili Chourasta Mor in Hakimpur Upazila of the district on Saturday noon. truck driver Shahidul Islam, 40, and helper Helal Uddin, 22.
Dinajpur BGB Sector Staff Officer Major Shamim said on a tip-off, BGB members searched the Bogura-bound truck and arrested the two with the phensedyl.
The seized items and the arrested were handed over to Hakimpur Police Station (PS).
BGB filed a case in this connection.
On the other hand, police, in an anti-drug drive from Friday night till Saturday morning, arrested 30 drug traders and takers with various drugs from the district.
At least 12 cases were filed against them in this connection.
Police also recovered 115 yaba tablets, 34 bottles of phensedyl, 200 grams of hemp, 15 litres of brew, and one gram of heroin from them, said Dinajpur Police Control Room sources.
Later, a local court sent them to jail on Saturday noon.
At least 25 drug peddlers and addicts were arrested in the district from Saturday night to Sunday morning.
Fifteen cases were filed against them.
During the drive, police recovered 55 pieces of yaba, 17 bottles of phensedyl, 450 grams of hemp, 10 litres of Cholai wine, 125 pieces of ampoule injections.
The arrestees were sent to jail on Sunday through court order.
CUMILLA: Two drug peddlers were arrested along with huge quantity of smuggled goods in two separate drives in Muradnagar and Chauddagram Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The arrestees were identified as Mohsin Mia, 20, son of Nabi Hossain of Poiapathar Village under Muradnagar Upazila and Kawser Ahmed, 26, son of Dulal Mia of Gomarbari Village under Chauddagram Upazila of Cumilla District.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muradnagar PS KM Manjur Alam, said, acting on a secret information, a team of police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Rokon Uddin raided near Companiganj Super Market area under Muradnagar Upazila at 7:00pam. Police arrested Mohsin Mia from the spot and recovered 125 canes bear from his possession.
On the other hand, BGB men arrested Kawser Ahmed from Gomarbara area under Chauddagram Upazila at around 6pm.
They also recovered 15 pieces of Yaba tablets, 20 bottles of whisky and 24 bottles of phensedyl from his possession, Abdullah Al-Faruki Additional Director of 10 BGB Battalion confirmed the matter.
Two separate cases were filed with respective PS, sources added.
JOYPURHAT: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested two drug traders with 1.800 kilograms of hemp from Adarshagram Purbapara area under Dogachhi Union of Sadar Upazila in the district on Saturday noon.
The arrested are: Anwar Hossen, 50, son of Golam Motaleb of the area, and Abu Bakkar Siddik, 23, son of Tarajul of Billah Village in the upazila.
RAB sources said a team of RAB-5, Joypurhat Camp led by Additional Police Super Md Abu Khayer raided the said area and arrested the two with the hemp.
A case under Narcotics Control Act was filed in this connection, and the arrested were handed over to Sadar PS.
NOAKHALI: Police arrested two drug peddlers with one foreign pistol, one magazine and 65 yaba tablets from Dighirpar area of Charparboti Union in Companyganj Upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The arrested are: Zakir Hossen alias Bechu, 41, son of Mokul Ahmed, and Hasan Ali alias Bagha Manik, 39, son of Abdul Hye of the area.
Assistant SI of Companyganj PS Md Jasim Uddin said on a tip-off police raided the said area and arrested the two with the arms, ammunition and yaba.
One of the arrested Hasan Ali has two drug cases filed with the PS.
Two cases were under process against the arrested.
RAJSHAHI: Members of RAB arrested a drug dealer with 283 bottles of phensedyl from Dhadash Battala area under Belpukur Police Station in the city on Friday.
The arrested is Md Ariful Islam, 42, son of late Kalam Islam of Krishnaganj Bazaar under Chandrima PS.
A team of RAB-5 CPSC Mollapara Camp raided the said area and arrested the drug dealer with the phensedyl.
A case was filed in this connection.
In another incident, members of RAB have nabbed a drug dealer with 1,000 pieces of yaba from the Janata Bank area in the district city on Sunday noon.
The detainee is Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, 42, son of late Nazrul Islam of Kashyadanga Srirampurpara area of the city.
In a press release on Sunday, RAB said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB’s Mollapara Camp Crime Suppression Specialist Company (CPSC) conducted the raid at a 10-storied building in the C&B Crossing around 12 pm on Sunday. At that time, Rafiqul Islam was nabbed along with 1,000 pieces of yaba, and cash Tk 4,000 were recovered from five packets of him.
He was handed over to Rajpara PS.
Rajpara PS OC Hafizur Rahman said the arrestee was produced before the court on Sunday noon. Later, the court was sent him to jail.
BRAHMANBARIA: Two drug peddlers were arrested along with 310 pieces of yaba, 20 bottles of phensedyl and 11 pieces of Buprenorphine Injection from Koiratoli Village of Akhaura Upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The arrestees are identified as Jumman Miah, 22, son of late Karam Ali and Jubayer Ahmed Jony, 20, son of Jomshed Ali of the village.
RAB-14 Bhairab Camp Assistance Director Chandan Devnath confirmed the matter.
Earlier in the evening, they were arrested from Koiratoli Village of the upazila.
Chandan Devnath said, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB raided the house of Jumman Miah and arrested them along with 310 pieces of yaba, 20 bottles of phensedyl and 11 pieces of Buprenorphine injections.
A case was filed with Akhaura PS under Narcotics Control Act.
