The Communist Party of Bangladesh has demanded holding a fresh national election under a neutral government, reported UNB.
“Cancel results of this unprecedentedly rigged election,” CPB leader Ruhin Hossain Prince announced at a human chain protest at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka yesterday.
“Hold a free, fair and participatory election under a neutral government,” he read out a prepared statement, claiming that there had been many victims of post-election violence.
“There is no atmosphere for holding a free and fair election under the incumbent government. This farcical election has proven it. Many people did not get the chance to exercise their voting rights,” he alleged.
The ruling Awami League-led coalition won 96 percent seats in the December 30 polls.
As the next course of action, CPB leader Ruhin said a daylong public hearing would be held at JPC on January 11.
