Major General Abdur Rashid speaks to DOT :
Voting for the 11th parliamentary election was done peacefully in Dhaka; but was tainted with violence elsewhere across the country and cost the lives of at least a dozen people. BNP told the Election Commission that its polling agents had been obstructed in 221 constituencies during the election. Opposition and ruling party activists have been reportedly killed in election violence across Bangladesh. In this regard, Major General Abdur Rashid, Security Analyst said that the opposition parties are just trying to spread lies for making this election a disputed one. Their intention is very much clear from their activities. They have attacked the ruling party workers in different places in Bangladesh and approximately 9 people from the ruling party were killed in these attacks. The government along with the Election Commission and law enforcers is trying to successfully conduct this election in a free and fair environment. However, the opposition parties are taking frantic attempts to make this election disputed. This shall increase if they can’t win this election.
