Brigadier General Sakhawat Hossain speaks to DOT
If BNP agents do not come to the centres, then how can they be seen, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda questioned today following the allegation that opposition’s polling agents were not allowed to enter the centres. “It is their choice. If they do not come, how will they be seen,” the CEC said. He also said that the election is being fair so far expect one or two separate incidents. The election officials have been ordered to halt votes in any centre if law and order situation goes out of control, the CEC added.
In this regard, Brigadier General Sakhawat Hossain said that the matter should have been investigated before the CEC coming to the conclusion that BNP agents did not come to the polling centres. CEC is responsible to ensure level playing field for all the parties participating in this election and hence, CEC making a comment on an allegation brought by a party participating in this election is not acceptable.
Brigadier General Sakhawat Hossain is the former Election Commissioner of Bangladesh.
