Prof Anu Muhammad speaks to DOT :
I think the upcoming elections are going to be a one-horse race. Different organisations have worked for the last one month for a one-sided poll. Since the polls are being held under a partisan government, so the government now is in charge.
Government, Election Commission and law enforcing agencies, all are working for the same purpose. All necessary steps are being taken to stage a one-sided election. Why a strong political party, which is now in power, did not dare to contest in the polls? This is regrettable.
If they dared to contest, they could win the elections. Why do they lack the confidence, why are they afraid of contesting the elections. It is not clear to me as to why they have to ensure a one-sided election through attacking the opposition forces.
They want to control the communication through suspending mobile banking and 3G, 4G. Now it remains to be seen how such steps benefit them. The government could have adopted much more better steps to hold a free and fair election.
