Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder speaks to DOT :
Jatyia Oikyafront has pledged forming a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ to investigate and resolve the enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and false cases filed in the last 10 years.
In its manifesto, the opposition alliance described the blueprint of its Commission, saying it will involve eminent academics, social workers and lawyers and the cases would be resolved through individual pardoning and compensation. In this regard, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder said that Jatyia Oikyafront has included a very positive thing in its manifesto which our country is longing for. We were a united nation in 1971 during and after our liberation war. However, now we have turned into a divided nation. We need healing; we need to be united again. We must reconcile our differences and learn to live peacefully together. We need political consensus for resolving the cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. For that, forming a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ shall be helpful.
Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder is Secretary of SHUJAN: Citizens for Good Governance.
