Farmers of the district are expecting a bumper production of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) paddy in ten upazila of the district as they have already exceeded this year’s cultivation target of the crop. Additional 12,495 hectares have been brought under the T-Aman paddy cultivation during the current season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a target was set up to cultivate the paddy on 1,22,205 hectares of land.
But, the farmers have successfully brought 1,34,700 hectares of land under the cultivation programme taking advantage of favorable climatic conditions and various farmers -friendly programs of the government, the sources said.
Besides, the government helped the farmers to run the T-Aman cultivation programme properly by distributing agricultural loan among them from all the state-run banks, the sources added.
