Kabir Humayun: The Supreme Court yesterday fixed October 1 for holding hearing on a petition filed by BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury seeking a stay on a High Court order that cleared the way for the Anti-Corruption Commission to quiz him over corruption allegations.
Justice M Imman Ali, Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division, fixed the date after a brief hearing on the petition, reports The Daily Star.
Anti-corruption Commission’s lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan said the High Court order will remain in force until the Supreme Court chamber judge passes any stay order.
On Sunday, the High Court cleared the way for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to quiz BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in connection with allegations of corruption against him.
The court summarily rejected a writ petition filed by Amir Khasru challenging ACC notices asking him to appear before the commission for interrogation.
