Light-trap to protect crops

Sojol Sorkar, Tungipara, Gopalganj: Light traps have been built to protect the aman crops from damaging insects in Patgati, Borny, Kusholi, Ramchandrapur and Chingari municipalities of Tungipara upazila. According to the Agricultural office, 50 light traps have been erected in the upazilla’s 16 blocks to control the spread of disease and the insects. Some farmers said agriculture officers instructed them how to get rid of harmful insects and how to produce insecticide-free crops. District Agricultural Officer agriculturist Jamal Uddin said, “We are giving essential suggestions to the farmers and trying to reduce the use of insecticide.”
