Desk Report: The residents of Barhatta upazila in Netrakona seems to be lucky to witness the ‘Bangabandhu National Under-17 Gold Cup Football Tournament’ began on day before yesterday at Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium, reports the Asian Age. The President of Barhatta Upazila Krira Songsta and UNO Forida Yesmin said, the nationwide tournament, organized by Ministry of Youth and Sports will formally inaugurated at Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium, Barhatta at 3pm. State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder, MP, was present the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Mahmud Hassan in the chair. Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, MP and high officials of the governments will also was present at the session, among others.
In the first match, Barhatta upazila sadar union eleventh will face Baushi union eleventh, she added.
It is learnt that, a total of 125,000 promising footballers of 5,500 teams in the country will compete in the tournament in four phases-union, upazila, district and division level.
