PM to attend 4th Bimstec Summit

    M Humayun Kabir: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to attend the fourth Bimstec Summit scheduled to be held on August 30-31 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
    This will be a brief visit and several bilateral meetings are likely to take place on the sidelines of the Summit, said an official on Sunday, reports UNB.
    Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand are the members of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (Bimstec).
    Rohingya issue, among others, will come up for discussion in informal setting, he added.
    The Prime Minister is likely to hold a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, said a diplomatic source though foreign ministry here did not confirm it yet.
    On August 4, Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend the Bimstec Summit to be held in Nepal.
