Cabinet endorses draft of ‘BSTI Law 2018’

    Abrar Hussain: Increasing fines and penalties, the Cabinet has given final approval to draft of ‘Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Act, 2018’
    The approval came from a regular meeting held yesterday, while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was in the chair in her office, reports Banglanews24. After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters, “An Ordinance has been amended. The punishment has been enhanced in the law.”
    Before the draft, if benchmark standard was used without license then 6 months of jail and Tk 15,000 fine were applicable. Now the penalty has increased up to 2 years of jail and fine of Tk one lakh.
    The law has been enacted in the draft to confiscate if standard is used without registration.
