Xasir Yusuf: The draft of ‘Government Telephone, Cellular and Internet Policy-2018’ received the cabinet’s approval to raise the cell phone allowance for the ministers and the secretaries to Tk 75,000 from Tk 15,000.
The Cabinet approved the draft policy yesterday to bring changes in the existing policy framed in 2004. Mohammad Shafiul Alam, the Cabinet Secretary, briefed the newsmen following the meeting held at the PMO with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
According to the draft policy the ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers, all secretaries, including acting secretaries, are about to receive Tk 75,000 instead the previous Tk 15,000 to buy a cell phone. He said the decision the increase the allocation came in line with the present market prices of smartphones.According to the existing policy, there is no ceiling for mobile phone bill for ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers and secretaries, the Cabinet Secretary said. “There’s no big change here except the clauses related to the committees,” he said.
