Sofian Khan: Five people have lost their lives with one more injured in a landslide in Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban on yesterday.
The deceased are Abu Ahamd (32), Nurul Hakim (25), Sona Miah (30), Nur Ahamed (35) and Jasim Uddin (24) all were cutting soils at the cite.
According to Jahangir the Chairman of the area Aziz Chowdhury, a chunk of mud collapsed on them in the morning while they were cutting a portion of a hill for making a way for rainwater drainage causing the four dead on the spot and one injured.
While the injured, Nur Hossain, was sent to Naikhongchhari upazila health complex, others are being suspected of buried under 15-20 feet soil. Three firefighting units were working to recover the bodies.
