A dispute has long been prevailing between the people supporting the CHT Peace Accord and those who are opposing the move. One of the groups backs the treaty while the other does not. The feud within themselves turned into violence. With the general election approaching, both the groups will try to enlarge their area of dominance. On the other hand, the law enforcement agencies will have to try to bring the people behind such incidents to justice and provide security to those who are for the peace accord. This is because the pro-peace accord people are targeted by their rivals. Moreover, it is mandatory to work for improving the relation between the indigenous groups and the Bangali people since the anti-peace accord people will try to halt the polls. In addition, the sections of the accord that remained unimplemented need to be in place. Measures to settle down several issues have to be taken immediately and wisely, avoiding procrastination in the process (to implement the accord). It is not possible to ensure cent percent security. However, the security system has improved a lot. New police stations have been erected there. The law enforcers are being provided with their necessary facilities. The people trying to create tension in the hill tracts currently are very small in number and they need to be tried. Points responsible for creating anger among them have to be addressed. I hope that no such incident repeats, damaging the relation between the ethnic and the Bangali people. We need to be much more aware of the matter.
