South Korea deploys warship to Ghana after pirates kidnap sailors

    Abrar Hussain: After pirates kidnapped 3 South Korean sailors last Monday, Seoul’s foreign ministry took the initiative to deploy an anti-piracy warship to the sea off Ghana, according to ministry officials on Saturday. Pirates had boarded the 500-ton Marine 711 that held 40 Ghanaian and three South Korean sailors.The pirates seized the three Koreans and escaped on a separate speedboat. Their current location is unknown. South’s Yonhap news agency had reported that the Marine 711 – registered in Ghana – later arrived at a port at Ghana where the Ghanaian sailors disembarked. According to South Korea’s military, the pirates had been identified as Nigerians.
