The Canadian government has honoured Bangladesh Association of Guelph, a city known as ‘Royal City’ in Canada, for their extra ordinary role in leadership and volunteerism through special memento introduced in country’s 150th birthday celebration. It was bestowed by the local MP Lloyd Longfield of the House of Commons at an event organized on December 9 evening at the auditorium of Centennial Collegiate to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the organization as well as Victory Day celebration of Bangladesh. The Mayor of Guelph, Cam Guthrie also witnessed it while both praised for over all organizational success.The event also had a musical drama presentation by the students of Sukannya Nritangan of Toronto led by acclaimed classical dancer Aruna Haider, which allured the audience most. Besides, the organization itself has honoured Chitra Sarker, Shibabrata Nandi Dulal, Fahmida Rahim Tishi, Dr S M Habibullah Bahar, Dr Mamunur Rashid and Dr M M Hamiduzzaman for having their excellence in the field of cultural art, community activism, environmental protection and organizational contributions. They also handed a praiseworthy letter to MP Lloyd Longfield for the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his government’s outstanding humanitarian help for Rohingyas who fled from Myanmar in recent months to Bangladesh. Among others, the President Joglul Sayed, Mamun Hossain, Dr Mohafiqul Kader, Hamid Khan and Kazi Safayetul Haque Mintu have outperformed in making the event a success.
