Pope Francis is arriving in Dhaka on a three-day state visit today, wrapping up his Myanmar tour. He is coming at invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Bangladesh, reports BSS. President Abdul Hamid will receive him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around at 3 pm, who is the second Pope visiting Bangladesh, around 31 years after the trip of Pope John Paul II in 1986. From the airport, the Pope will head to National Martyr’s Memorial at Savar to pay tribute to the Liberation War martyrs at 4 pm.After that, he will pay his respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 32 Dhanmondi. In the evening, the Pope will meet the president at Bangabhaban, and then join a gathering with Speaker, ministers, political leaders, members of civil society and diplomats there.
