An actor with autism was casted to play as a patient on the most watched TV drama ‘The Good Doctors’ and fans are showing their love. Only 5% of characters with disabilities on TV are portrayed as actors. ABC’s show surgeon with autism is played by actor Freddie Highmore and in episode 7 he’s joined by a 15 year old actor Coby Bird who is autistic. Coby says ‘The Project Miracle’ helped prepare him for the role. The program supports young people with autism pursuing entertainment careers in Los Angeles. More than 1/3 of people with autism in their early 20s don’t have a job or education plan. Only 14% of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder hold paid alongside people without disabilities.
