Fear of Wheat Blast Epidemic, India Prohibits Farming by the Border with Bangladesh

    India fears that, Wheat Blast (A Fungal Disease of Plants) might spread into their country from the Bangladesh, through the border with West Bengal. Last season, they lost 480 hectors of wheat seedlings, alone in Murshidabaad District, said district inspector Mosharraf Hossen. 5 blocks of wheat-farms had to be burned due to this anticipated epidemic. Their agricultural division believes that, the wheat-disease might spread into Nodia district as well. Thus, they prohibited of farming wheat, near the 5 kilometer range to the Bangladeshi border, for next 2 years.
