Bangladesh Government has taken the initiation of constructing a 90 kilometers long dual gauge railway from Bagura to Sirajganj. In order to, reduce the distance from Dhaka to North-Bangla, by 112km direct connection, claimed Ministry of Railways. Currently, passengers & goods have to ravel over 246km to reach North-Bangla from Dhaka, in trains.The railway consists of 79.30km main line & 11.35km loop line. The projects also include track-works, dams, station-buildings, bridges & culverts. The project is under the 3rd India Dollar Credit Line. Current collected loan for the project from India is 2,662 crores taka. Total budget is estimated to be 5,244 crores taka. Planners expect to finish it by 2022, if the project passes through approval committee.
