Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury emphasized on regular tax payment for a self-dependent government by saying building Padma Bridge would be impossible without increase in revenue earnings. She was visiting tax fair organized at Agargaon in the capital yesterday. She said: “previously it was called donors, now development partner; whatever, we have to reduce our debt- dependency. Now we are lower middle income country. Taxes are to be paid regularly in order to have a self-dependent government. Recalling 1/11 government’s frantic search for Sheikh Hasina’s any tax evasion, which ultimately turned futile, Matia said, “as we always pay our taxes, so does our party.” The 8th edition of the annual Income Tax Fair began on Wednesday in 20 spots in the capital and other parts of the country.
