Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) is in urgent need for manpower. But, their requisition letter is stuck at the Ministry of Public Administration. DGDA failing to operate properly & deliver public services due to having only half of the amount of manpower than they actually need. One of the DGDA Director said these to the media on Sunday.DGDA claim that, their 87 out of 370 positions are vacant. Even, only 18 employees are doing the work of 60, at the control-lab. There are already, 200 types of drugs & medicines of 27,000 brands. Out of them over 14,000 brands are being marketed without lab-testing. Meantime, there is only a single inspector for field-monitoring at district levels. Hence, 50% of the permitted drugs are being marketed regularly without proper field-inspection. DGDA is very much worried that, they are losing their usefulness & effectiveness to the public.
Recently, DGDA arranged an event at their auditorium. There, their top-ranked officers strongly demanded the Health Minister Md. Nasim to take care of this. The minister assured them that, he will soon contact the Ministry of Finance & Ministry of Public Administration.
