Demand of Jute Increased by 20-30%

    Jute Industry is rejuvenating after making it mandatory to use jute-products for packaging purposes. Rice, sugar, wheat, corn & fertilizers are being stored & supplied in Jute packaging. Meantime, including cloth, carpet, shoe & others, total of 131 kinds of jute-products are being produced currently. This environment-friendly product already had high demands in abroad. Nationwide demand also increasing gradually, stated State Minister of Textiles and Jute, Mirza Alam. He also added that, Bangladesh is using the most modern technologies for making the most efficient & useful jute products. Jute is regaining its lost glory. Farmers are becoming encouraged to cultivate jute. This year, jute farmers received 1,700 taka per mon of jute.Executive Director of ‘Pater Lorai’ Nasimul Ahsan said, authorities should focus on creating cheap & attractive jute products to totally stop the use of polythene. ‘Pater Lorai’ is a labor-rights activist group for the jute farmers.
