Government has made it very easy for the initiators to collect loans from the banks for new businesses. Despite of this wide benefiting campaign, Silver business-owners are being left out. Without being able to collect government loans, they have to rely on usury.
There are over 1,500 shops and 4,000 people’s livelihood depend on Silver business in Vkurta union of Savar. Most of the silver jewelries distributed throughout the country come from this place. The workmanship & rich-quality of their silver products even have gained popularity in abroad. But these business-owners are failing to expand their promising business properly. Since, usury interest rates are never fixed nor fair, & soaks up most of their profit.
With proper loan aid from the government they could sure earn remittance & fame with their work, expresses several silver business-owners.
