2.5 Lacs Ton Rice Import From Vietnam, Price May Decrease Soon

    Government is importing 2.5 lac ton rice from Vietnam to aid the decrease of rice price in market. First ships are expected to reach Chittagong Port from Saigon Port by 11 July, with 43,000 ton rice. All of it will be stored in the government granary. There will be three more importing runs. Bangladesh has been reaping extensive amount of crops every year. Government importing was not only closed, even some of the rice were exported in some years. But, this year a group of culprits conspired ill-stocking skims to turn up a commotion and make Bangladesh rice market unstable, complains Food Minster Advocate Kamrul Islam.

    Government started taking initiations to decrease the rice price near the end of Ramadan. Besides importing from Vietnam, another team went to Thailand to make another rice-importing deal, on 5 July. They are returning today. The government also loosened up on the rice-importers about taxes & other strictness. In order to, further aid in decreasing the rice prices.
