Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) shared their concerned about the National Online Media Policies 2017 through a media report, on Thursday. TIB Executive Director Dr. Ifterkharuzzaman demanded for an effective, independent and acceptable National Broadcast Commission. Dr. Ifterkharuzzaman argued about the timely-odd non-indistinguishable characterization of online media from regular media. He believes it is illogical and might violate the basic right of freedom of speech in some cases.
He suggested to adapt the old & new laws together, and revising some in-between. Hence, a team of expert and smart commission members, is very much needed in order to re-adjust the policies.
