Prominent citizens arranged conference meeting at the National Press Club, demanding to publish reports about the Uranium Contamination in Sunamganj Haor area, on yesterday. At this ‘Legitimate Justice for the Citizens’ event, speakers also talked about the necessity of horough report on this contamination situation and criticized BNP’s ineffectiveness about the issue.
Only testing water was not enough. Corpses of the dead animals should be tested for the contamination level. Also, Uranium and coal mine reports should be published to the general public as well, demanded Syed Rizawana Hasan. BNP is doing nothing but blaming everyone and pointing fingers at India. While, they could actually go help the people in that area and be effective. The government should take both short-term and long-term initiatives relating this contamination issue of Sunamganj, mentioned Syed Abul Maksud.
