
Preparations have begun to welcome Baishakh as the month of Choitro draws to an end. Charukala has started arranging the Mongol Shobhajatra, reports Somoy TV. ‘Aanondoloke Mongolaloke’ from the famous Rabindra Sangeet will be the slogan of this year’s rally along with a bright smiley face of the sun. Behind that will be an ugly face which would symbolize that all the darkness must come to light.
According to Somoy TV, students informed that a total of 11 sculptures will be present at the Shobhajatra. Paper birds, sculptures with folk art motifs and symbols are being prepared for the Shobhajatra. Following the architecture depicted in rural villages, various animal sculptures of tigers, elephants are being made. Masks, made with paper and papier-mâché, are other attractions which will add to the visual delight
The Shobhajatra which started in 1989 has recently got recognition by UNESCO as ‘cultural heritage’. The colorful Mongol Shobhajatra will start from 9 am at Charukala on the first day of Baishakh.
